CONTENT VS STRATEGY.
Here on social media strategy is superior to content.
So I made a post yesterday recommending the beautiful content of SUDDENLY PROPHETIC after i read the book (i am naturally a bookworm, but movies? Not my thing at all, havent seen prophet suddenly 1 and 2, but i will see 3) That post was greeted with a lot of reactions which is largely emotional and understandable.
But this is my little cent about this and Branding;
Strategy must match content:
Here on social media people are more largely emotional than rational, you surely don’t want to trigger that part of the social media audience if at all that’s necessary, trigger their positive emotions or at best trigger their positive and negative emotions on equal base if traffic is what you want.
This is because strategy will influence how content is received. I have seen videos where captions triggered people’s emotions in the opposite direction of what the video was talking about. Crazy right? Strategy of presentation is that powerful.
I have read this book and that’s because I am naturally drawn to books. And while reading it I couldn’t help but admit the powerful contents in the book but then even when I posted a simple review people were still bent on the strategy used.
Some even took it out on me, to them because of how wrong the strategy was, i shouldn’t even have talked about the content of the book. This is after expressly stating my dislike for the strategy.
That’s how important strategy is.
The strategy got them Deep on the negative side of emotions, they dont even want to hear anything else about the book.
What’s the best strategy that could have been explored? COLLABORATION i think.
I am just imagining reaching out to the winlos, present the book to them and sell the objective of the book to them and how you intend to compliment the movie generally by providing a basic teaching on the prophetic, how to walk in the originals of it and how to discern it because that’s what the book really is all about.
Then it’s possible the winlos could even partner and make an announcement that PROPHET SUDDENLY 3 will come alongside a book and that’s it. That becomes a win win for all.
But then knowing our Dear Body of Christ. This strategy works more in my head than in reality.
Another option could be to write to them informing them of the strategy and possibly tendering an upfront apology for the controversy it may generate and also explain their motive.
But in all the strategy used evoked emotions of competition, controversy and hate from many which in my opinion literally betrayed the beautiful content of the Book.
Brands must understand that strategy must complement content for it to be received authentically.
There are very few of us who can fault a strategy and still appreciate a content where need be. But bulk of social media audience will disapprove your content once your strategy triggers them negatively emotionally.
In my opinion the strategy didn’t deliver as expected and it didn’t do Justice to the content of the book. Because content was beautiful and way deserving of a better strategy.
Na for there them no try, but if you can lay your bias away and check the book out you will find really profound teachings on the prophetic.
But that’s just my opinion by the way.
I will see Prophet suddenly 3 later and give my review. I am preparing my mind for it, movies no be my thing. Two seconds I don sleep . I will start today so that I can finish it by next week.
