While watching prophet suddenly 3 there were quiet a few parts I found disturbing and one of it was after JAMES had been bottled up, the signs depicted by the movie that His ministry had died were;
1. No more trending songs
2. No more invitations
3. He is no longer everywhere.
4. Low views on social media.Hmmm!
Unintentionally painting the idea that the sign that a man is getting it right in ministry is that He is everywhere, with trending songs, on billboards etc.
But then how else could they have communicated the fall of a minister in such a relatable way. Isn’t all of that our metrics for measuring a minister who is succeeding and doing well?
There are many ministers today who are under undue pressure because they are not meeting up with this measurement. Infact because of it, they feel like they don’t have a special Grace from God even when they have a good relationship with Him.
I know the winlos didn’t intend to pass this perspective but then what choice did they have? They needed to be so relatable, how else do people measure a person succeeding in ministry?
But if you dont intentionally sieve that narrative off your mind you wont even know when that becomes your yardstick for measuring your success and that of others in ministry.
You can be everywhere and still be failing before God. You can have trending songs and still be failing in your assignment before God, you can be on billboards, having all the views on social media and still be failing in your assignment.
On the other flip,You can be succeeding in ministry and still not trend, have Hit songs, be constantly on billboards and amassing a lot of views.
Only God holds the true yardstick for measuring your success. If you are not careful you will spend all your time in ministry pursuing this things because somehow they validate you as successful in ministry before people.
Everyday I pray to God to help my heart and not buy the presence or the absence of this things as a yardstick. The day we stand before God and give account of our calling many of us will be shocked to know that while men hailed us and counted us successful, We were failing before God.
Ah! A generation will get it right.God will help us.
