Bias, Beats, and the Gospel: Thoughts on “No Turning Back” by Gaise Baba

I see the many criticisms against the song “NO TURNING BACK” by Gaise Baba. I am not surprised though. Religion has a way of breeding an endless circle of complains. It won’t end now, it has been so from age to age.

Even the most cherished hymns we sing today was considered an abomination in church circle because it was a different kind of sound from what the church is used to. It also faced endless complains and criticisms.

I have my Bias against many genres of music as a musician. But I am intelligent enough to keep my Bias where it is. It is not a general rule.

Everyman has a Bias of some sort. The wise ones knows how to keep it as just a Bias and not as a generic rule of play.

Truth is, even the many people defending the song are doing so because “Lawrence Oyor” is in the song. Their Love for him is forcing them into accepting the song. If it was Gaise Baba alone the many persons speaking for the song today will lash out strongly on it. Their defense of the song now is because their favorite is involved.

This is how powerful BIAS is.

In everyway sane, Christ must be preached, let this be our Joy. There are those who will do it with tools that won’t appeal to you, genres that won’t cut as your Favourite, God will use vessels that don’t fit your standard to reach others.

In all our criticisms and divergent opinions, let’s understand this. It will help you keep your BIAS just where it should be and make you more open to discerning God when he moves in the direction your Bias cannot appreciate.

The Pharisees and Sadducees was so engrossed in their Bias and love for Moses and patterns of the Law that they missed out on Jesus because he didn’t come and operate in Favour of their most cherished Bias.

Enough said already.

I know you can discern God when HE moves in the Familiar but can you discern HIM when HE moves in the unfamiliar, won’t you like Saul persecute Him?

Thread carefully you may just be kicking against the pricks unknowingly.
