Music is not ministry, music is not worship.
Someone said to me one time that MUSIC is a calling from God, that singing is MINISTRY.
That period we were having that conversation Donnie mcclurkin was vocally sick and couldn’t use His voice for music for a very long time, I asked him “Does this mean ministry has ended for Donnie mcclurkin”?
That period Pst Donnie began engaging other tools like speaking in discharging His calling. He began Pastoring a church and still pastors till date even after he regained his ability to sing.
By some persons assertion of music being a ministry or a calling I am sure they will agree that Pst Donnie lost His calling or ministry for a while.
Celine Dion as we all know today is battling with a vocal health that has stopped her from singing if she was a Christian are we going to say she has lost her calling because she has lost her ability to sing?
Music is not ministry
Singing is not a calling.
Music is an Art, it is a skill.
Ministry is a special calling from God.
I have my calling from God and the tools I use for discharging that calling are; Music, teaching and writing.
If tomorrow (God forbid) I am unable to sing, my calling hasn’t ended I will engage other tools that are within my ability to discharge my calling.
We may be many who are singing,
But we are not all achieving the same thing with our singing. Our calling from God is the reason why our messages, our pattern and the purpose we are fulfilling with it are different regardless the fact that we are using the same tool which is MUSIC.
Music is a tool.
It is not the calling itself.
Music is an Art, a skill.
It is not the ministry itself.
We can use it as a tool to express our ministry but do not confuse the usage of a thing for the thing in Itself.
It is this confusion that has led many persons to think worship is synonymous to music. Infact for many, another name for worship is music. The average believer feels a stronger sense of worship only when He is singing.
Music is not worship.
Worship can be expressed using the tool of music.
Again, do not confuse the usage of a thing for the thing in itself.
If you are struggling to understand this,It will clearly be as a result of years in indoctrination into the wrong understanding.
Happy Weekend.
JESUS IS BEAUTIFUL.
